- Make sure your music files are added to the Windows Media Player library.
Method 1: Stream Music Directly from Windows Media Player
- Open Windows Media Player on your PC.
Play a track, an album, or a playlist.
Click the three-dot (...) option in the bottom-right corner, select Cast to Device, then choose your WiiM device from the list.
Method 2: Stream Music from Windows Media Server
This method enables media streaming on your PC to create a media server. Then, you can use the WiiM Home app to access and play music from the media server.
Step 1: Enable Media Streaming on Your PC
You can enable media streaming in two ways.
Option 1: Through Windows Media Player
This option is only available with the legacy version of Windows Media Player.
- Open Windows Media Player on your PC.
- From the menu bar at the top-left, click Stream > Turn on media streaming…
- Follow the prompts to share your Windows Media library over your local network.
Option 2: Through Windows Control Panel
- Open the Control Panel.
- Navigate to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Media streaming options.
- Click Turn on media streaming if not already enabled.
- Configure your sharing settings to allow access to your media library.
Step 2: Stream Music Using the WiiM Home App
- Open the WiiM Home app.
- Go to the Browse tab.
- Tap Home Music Share, then choose your media server.
- Play music on your WiiM device.
When you access the media server, the WiiM Home app will automatically index your files to enable faster browsing and smoother playback. For detailed instructions, see Building and Managing a Media Library from Your Media Server.
